Easy Ways of Squeezing Healthy Habits into Busy Schedules

Realistic ways you can add healthy habits into your daily routine.

No matter how much you want to make healthy choices, it can often feel like there simply isn’t enough time. When heading out for work, it’s a whole lot easier to grab a pre-packaged granola bar than whip up some oatmeal from scratch. You may also find yourself sacrificing the gym to complete an extra hour of work. What many business professionals, parents, and busy individuals don’t realize is that there is a way to be both the busiest and the healthiest version of yourself. No, it doesn’t mean you only get three hours sleep! You can start by adding these easy and healthy habits into your schedule.

Make three-ingredient meals.

Peanut butter, jelly, and whole-wheat bread. Tofu, veggies, and rice. Hummus, veggies, and crackers. There’s an entire world of easy and delicious meals that you can make with just three ingredients. These meals require minimum grocery shopping and even less prep-work!

Eat mindfully.

With deadlines nearing, it’s easy to inhale our food so that we can return to work. No matter how stressed you feel, always slow down and make time to eat. Take note of when you’re full, and you may find that you don’t eat the entire portion.

Walk it out.

Many jobs these days require sitting in front of a computer screen for hours on end. Add your 8-hour work shift to the time sitting down for dinner and driving. To combat sitting down for the better half of your day, take a break to walk, stretch regularly, and invest in a stand-up desk. Better yet, park further away from work and walk!

Set realistic goals.

Whether personal or professional, setting goals is a great way to grow. Just make sure they’re realistic! Schedule in monthly check-ins with your boss, personal trainer, and yourself to assess progress, and then alter goals as needed!
